The following letter was written by Ashley herself.
I was diagnosed with Germ Cell tumor in the ovarian at the age of 10 years in the month March 2011, in Cape Town. I underwent 2 operations where my ovarian and womb was removed and intestine was shorten, I Started my first chemo at Panorama Medical Clinic in Cape Town for 2 years and then I moved to see Dr Zietsman in Windhoek. I then started doing chemo at Paramount for about six months now… Going through the chemo treatment is very tiring make me very sick afterwards, but overall the doctor and nurses are taking very good care of me. I try to relax by reading or keeping myself busy with books, but I always have positive thoughts that the medication is working. The service at Paramount is excellent , everyone is friendly and the nurses are hardworking and I always feel “at home” The chemo doesn’t affected me as I am surrounded by my family and friends, so I always go back the next week to school. The teacher and the whole of our community do support me, therefore I’m living a positive life.
I never feel alone by reason being with people I love.
See you next time & Keep up the good work
Ashley
